Helping the planet is probably the last thing we think about during this pandemic but there are positive environmental outcomes because of the lockdowns that have been enforced globally. The coronavirus lockdown is not only helping protect against the spread of the virus, but it is also having an incredible impact on nature including our oceans all over the world!
Places like Venice, Italy, have never seen water so clear in decades since the coronavirus lockdown happened. They even sighted fish and ducks which they had never seen before. This shows that it is down to us as people that can give our world it’s much needed clean!
Our blog “Plastics and the POP industry” from 2019 explains the problems on using plastic straws etc… During this pandemic single-use plastics have seen a surprising boost worldwide. But the demand for products such as disposable wipes, cleaning agents, hand sanitizer, disposable gloves and masks is at a record high. Unfortunately, they’re also being thrown out in unprecedented volumes.
From doing our research, according to Quartz, Materials such as polystyrene, has been used a drastic amount over the past few months, especially in the food packaging and health-care industries. They have also seen “double-digit percentage sales increases” during this pandemic.
At Impulse we are looking forward to going back to normal, however normal will be! And to still help our environment by using more biodegradable and non-plastic materials to produce creative, permanent displays as well as Counter Top displays and FSDU’s for our clients.
Just like these we produced for IIAA and Jane Iredale.
