ThrowbackThursday: We were thrilled to win a three-way pitch to produce 1000 x Free-standing Spinner Displays for Sony Pictures.
The project started from a pitch to see if Impulse could compete against a china supply chain, in quality and delivery. We exceeded expectations in both.
The units main design was proven, but the exciting aspect for us were the different disciplines involved.
The main construction was metal – with a ‘Spun’ metal base and top section – a process that forms a 3D shape from a flat piece of steel, without welded joints (see the circular grey cap and base).
The stocking mechanism was produced from aluminium extrustion, plastic injection moulded pushers, and specially made coil springs – this resulted in separate cassettes, which “pushed” the DVD product to the front of each cassette, making the display appear always full.
The graphics panels were printed on both sides, allowing for promotional activity for end of run product, changed seasonally.
The units were painted in a specially formulated colour match, units were assembled by a team of 8, packed and shipped to Germany over 14 x 40ft Loads in a 6 week period.
This project demonstrated Impulses ability to Develop, Prototype (in this case within a week), produce and deliver to a strict 6-week timescale.
Impulse is a preferred choice for all disciplines, content with the responsibility of bringing together all aspects and ensuring fit and compliance to the point of being wheeled out onto the shop floor.
