Christmas Window Décor Ideas - 5 Festive Window Displays

Updated: Mar 11

Not wishing our lives away, but Christmas is creeping upon us, and for anyone working in retail, you’ll know planning takes place well in advance of the big day itself, and in fact, you could already be behind your competitors.

Are you going to make this Christmas one to remember for your business? Then you’ll need a strong instore presence, and that’s why we’ve broken down just five really quite amazing Christmas window display ideas that capture the spirit through all your merchandising efforts

Snowy Display

Good old plain snow and the odd snowflake could be all you need to transform displays into something largely Christmas focussed. What’s great about both of these would be how they’re white, so come with the capacity to blend with any products you’re promoting, no matter their colour.

This can also be a really cost-effective method for retailers, who can simply add this to existing shop displays, therefore no need to completely revamp what’s already there. Why break things if they’re not broken? Keep the core layout in place, and sprinkle some Christmas magic to show you’re in the festive mood.

Nativity Display

Nothing really comes close to the nativity in terms of traditional Christmas themes. It’s easily recognised by all generations, acting as the key story that drives everything we love about this holiday in the present day. So, why not use this within your display?

However, with so much going on within the Nativity scene itself, you’ll find room pretty sparse for products, and in fact, these are best used to lure customers into stores, rather than showing off your offerings. In what’s sure to be a competitive high street with lots of lavish displays, a layout such as this could be the key to driving more customers into your shop, much quicker.

Lights Display

Let there be light, and for Christmas, this means plenty of it. Turning Christmas lights on is a treasured tradition for many, and another great way to harness the feel good factor we all enjoy during the run up to Christmas day itself. Think LED, animated and even icicle shaped lights, all of which breathe waves of character into displays.

Fancy pushing the boat out a little further? Then reindeers, elves and even Santa himself can sit proudly within your displays, and not only look the part physically, but also brighten up the front of stores with colourful lighting bringing them to life.

Decorations Christmas Tree

Christmas decorations are another prime feature of the holidays, often used to transform spaces with more colour, spark and all round festive cheer.  It’s pretty common now for shops to use baubles creatively, and even include their own branding to enforce marketing credentials with Christmas at the heart of their efforts.

But, what you should really be focussed on is a Christmas Tree. What a spectacular focal feature this can be for shop displays, so flex your creative muscles and think about how this can be decorated to dazzle customers.

Cultural Display

We’re not the only ones going nuts for Christmas each year. Across Europe, particularly in countries like Germany and Norway, it’s become tradition for Christmas markets to take place each year, and they’re really quite fabulous, so well worth drawing inspiration from them if you wanted a cultural looking shop display.

Some of the best markets to visit would be Oslo, Dresden or Cologne. Here, you’ll be treated to traditional Christmas offerings, which can be great for brands who cater towards a classic festive season through their marketing.
